December 1, 1913, two brothers, Jim Woodson and H.P. (Harrie) Woodson opened the doors of Woodson Lumber Company located in Caldwell, Texas. Together they worked to grow their business and in 1924 they bought the yard in Lexington. Then again in 1937, they expanded by purchasing the lumberyard located in Bryan, and in 1938, they acquired the lumberyard in Brenham.
In January of 1946, Mr. Woodson’s son-in-laws, M.G. Perkins and Tom Yager came into the family business. The business has continued to grow over the years; on January 1, 1992, the Mexia and Groesbeck yards were opened under the Woodson name, and in July of 1995, the Buffalo location was opened.
In 1999, the new store in Lexington was opened, in 2001 our Custom Shop became a reality behind our administrative offices, and in 2005, the new Buffalo store was opened.
Today the company continues to be operated by the third generation member of the Woodson family, granddaughter Ann Yager Chapman, of Bryan, Texas. The President and Chief Operating Officer for all the Woodson companies is Craig Blum of Brenham.
The Woodson Companies are proud of their record of growth through expansion and remodels and look forward to future developments as they unfold.
